If you are anything like me, nothing’s sweeter than cleaning out old electronic equipment—especially if it can be put to good use. This week, Green in Chestnut Hill, (GRINCH) is making the whole clean-up experience sweeter with a bake sale by Night Kichen bakery to be held during this Saturday’s Weird Waste Day, November 13, 2010, from 1-4 p.m. at Valley Green Bank.

When owner Ned Mittinger purchased this stone Victorian someone warned him it was haunted. After 39 years in residence he and his wife have yet to meet any ghosts. In fact, the only otherworldly aspect of the 1885 house on a cliff is how it straddles both the commercial bustle and quiet seclusion of Chestnut Hill.

Fresh veggies through the winter? Farmers at the Chestnut Hill Grower’s Market are polling customers this month, asking if they’d like to shop bi-weekly or monthly for fresh veggies, beef, cheese, and more through the holidays and into next spring.

Fall surely has come into full bloom in Chestnut Hill – Scarecrows are up at The Morris Arboretum, pumpkins are plotted all over Laurel Hill Gardens, and black and orange sprinkles have taken over all of the Avenue bakeries.

Good food, great art, and a perfect fall day helped make the best Chestnut Hill’s Fall for the Arts Festival to date on October 10, 10/10/10.

Painter “Pierre a la Mode” entertained the crowd during the festival in 2009.

Artists, opera singers, swing performers, amusement rides, face painting, food vendors, and kid’s activities will take over Germantown Avenue on Sunday, October 10 for Chestnut Hill’s Fall for the Arts Festival. Live performances and activities start at 11 a.m. and festivities will go until dinner hour, at 5 p.m.
