¡Cuba! Restaurant to donate 20% to Haiti Relief

By Aimee Theriault, HillontheAvenue

When Miguel Castañeda of ¡Cuba! Restaurant in Chestnut Hill first heard the horrible news of the earthquake that devastated Haiti, hitting 10 miles west of Port-au-Prince; he knew there was something he had to do. Miguel’s mother grew up in Santiago de Cuba, just 200 miles from the coast of Haiti, and remembers his mother saying that she could see the lights of Port-au-Prince from the mountains at her home in Cuba.

Castañeda says he felt a responsibility to contribute to the relief.
“No matter how big the problem is, the solution lies within yourself,” says Castañeda.

Join the relief effort

From Jan. 14 until Feb. 10, Castañeda will donate 20% of all non-discounted food sales to aid the victims in Haiti. Castañeda registered with the Red Cross, who will see that his fundraising dollars go directly to where they are most needed. He strongly encourages other businesses along Germantown Avenue and throughout Philadelphia to join him in his fundraising efforts, please contact Miguel with any questions.
